MediaTek Gains 350 IP Rights from IBM

MediaTek has obtained 350 IP (Intellectual Property) rights from IBM at a cost of over NT$300 million. These IP rights will be used on the development of optical disc players and handsets. In addition to acquiring IP rights related to optical drivers, handsets, and LCD TVs, MediaTek also intends to apply for patents for their new chips.
